Shared Reading Sessions

When people go through a stressful period in their life, be it because of illness, relationship breakdown or some event over which they had no control we experience a downshift in how we function. The impact of this downshift means that we might lose our ability to concentrate, become more irritable or isolate ourselves. The impacts are many and varied. A common experience for those going through caner treatment is the loss of a once treasured reading habit.

Shared Reading Groups are a way of connecting with others through a love a literature and are also a way of rekindling a once loved reading habit.

An exciting new program is now on offer through ACT Libraries – to learn more and register for sessions please click here.

Stories are shared in groups at Tuggeranong and Dickson libraries. The stories often have themes that are universal, that we can all speak to in some way. The idea is to open up conversations that explore ourselves, each other and the world around us.
